that is a great first try and as you get your technique down I bet your nebulae will surpass mine!!! It is better than my first try...lol...
As for the stars, make a separate layer for Universe, put it on top of your nebula then use "screen" , that way you can erase the stars from areas that you don't want them to create depth. But your version looks really good, not too many stars but enough to make it look 3D.

Its not always the lines on a page, or the notes in the air: its what the stand for, how they feel against the delicate tendrils of your mind, what they strike in you and resonate in deep octave, clear in your heart.
Yep - that was exactly what I forgot to do - or actually I thought if it was one way or the other. Making a copy of the original and setting it on multiply (or whatever it was, I fiddled a lot with them) added depth, too. Wish I had the full version of Universe, could do more. But at least making stars feels great. I had that program a long time, used to use it for my fractal stock and some pics, too.
Well, I'll keep practising. Apo is a very strange territory to me, though I've messed with it for 2 years now. Still no idea how it REALLY works, but as long as trial-error works out

My nebulae looked like jelly. So I stopped making them.

...being so catty.
My stock account is very, very unpopular. Perhaps I should upload stuff here in the future...
